[Solved]1.9.7-Ubuntu 11.10-Don't work (cannot locate IWADs)

i'm trying to get working the 1.9.7, without success

loaded all the WADs but when i try to open a game, it open and says he can't run the game and ask to load a game (it write a games list) but no one work, so i have to write "quit"

after the first try i get only a funny black screen and i have to hard reboot the system

i have ultimate doom, doom 2, final doom on ubuntu 11.10
notebook, intel i3 350m, intel integrated graphics/ati HD5470m(i can choose wich use), 4gb ddr3 RAM

  • I can't tell much from your output because it doesn't include the arguments passed to Doomsday which should include the path(s) to your IWAD(s). Please enable verbosity level 1 and then re-run Doomsday and post the resulting log.
  • This is what I used to run doomsday:
    /usr/bin/doomsday -game doom2 -iwad ~/Games/Doom/DOOM2.WAD -w 1680 -h 1050
    

    Doomsday can automatically detect the wads if you open a terminal and type
    echo export DOOMWADDIR="/path/to/you/doom/wad/folder/" >> ~/.bashrc
    
    replace "/path/to/you/doom/wad/folder/" with the location of your doom/heretic/hexen wad files

    Then after you restart the xserver/logout then login again all you need to type to start doomsday is:
    /usr/bin/doomsday -w 1680 -h 1050
    

    Then in doomsday just open the consol and type
    load doom2

    this time i used intel graphics, it run well on windows

    @KuriKai it don't work, i had only a black screen

    edit: lol i see another alternative
    first one: it run but don't load the game
    second: black screen
    third: it close my session on ubuntu and i have to login again xD

    i've tried to change the position, the directory "Modelli" is an useless folder created by system, now i use "Giochi", games in italian :P (also tried to reinstall the package and modified the path for wad)

    all the wad are from a collectors cd, original and they work on windows and also on mac osx
  • Did you run this command in a terminal then restart the xserver?
    echo export DOOMWADDIR="/home/daniele/Giochi/Doom/wad/" >> ~/.bashrc
    
    then start doomsday using
    /usr/bin/doomsday
    


    I'm just wondering if there might be a bug in doomsday about unix file paths
    so if the above doesn't work try this...
    echo export DOOMWADDIR="/home/daniele/Giochi/Doom/wad" >> ~/.bashrc
    
    then restart the xserver, then start doomsday using
    /usr/bin/doomsday

    but only if i open it with terminal, and i can't put my resolution (1366x768), if i use it system log off O_o

    and if i want to add some addons?

    edit: solved the resolution problem, intel graphics+ubuntu doesn't work well xD if i use ati graphics i can change it, it's ok
