Is there a way to stop the map rotating?

And stay in a fixed NSEW position? This rotation is the single most annoying "feature" in Deng. Completely disorientating - completely throws your direction sense and you have to continuously recalibrate where you are. Extremely annoying.

  • Don't press it again? You could also unbind the control if you want to prevent pressing it accidentally (Menu > Options > Controls; scroll down to the Map section and press Delete when the Toggle Rotation option is highlighted).

    It doesn't. There is no user.conf, only a system.conf which has nothing about the map.

    I'm guessing you're running some Unix variant? At this point it would help to know a bit more about the system you're running Doomsday on. (Your doomsday.out log would also be helpful).

  • According to your log, you have relocated your user data folder (-userdir /home/<path>/.doomsday/runtime/) so you should find your game.cfg files in there (in game specific subfolders).

  • Yes. Assuming that config is being loaded for the game you're playing then the automap rotation *should* be disabled from the outset.

    I don't use Ubuntu myself. It would help if another Ubuntu user could confirm whether this is working or not for them.

    Now all of a sudden it's decided to work. I must have done something stupid so it didn't write to the .conf, or hit 'r' again without noticing and shutting down.
