Stable builds comparison 1.12.2 vs 1.13.2

A have to say that the 1.12.2 is the most working build so far, at least for windows based systems.
I can't use a windowed mode in 1.13.2 for integrated video card (Intel HD series). The engine just freezes out and don't respond for any commands. For the nVidia cards all is ok.
There are also a bug, that I can't see a model particles in 1.13.2

  • Those issues sound to be specific to Intel HD. At least both windowed mode and model particles are working fine for me on my Windows 7 dev system (NVidia GTX275).

    Can you please provide a copy of your doomsday.out from a session in which you tried to use windowed mode. Also, can you try the -nofsaa command line option to disable full-screen antialiasing.
  • The model particle issue seems to be not only Intel HD specific. Here is the tests for my Windows 8 x64 pro / nVidia GTX 560.

    The model particles is arrow headed rays which have no strict 45 degree division.
  • Hmm, I'll have to test that effect specifically. I was using the ice shard effects (the ice globs that bounce around after the enemy is shattered) for comparison.

    It would still be useful to see your doomsday.out, though.
  • The iced death Fx not used the model particles. The model particles is in sapphire wand hit fx (some of the rays), frost shards hit fx (120 degree rays), arc of death dying of lightning fx and bloodscourge explosion start rays.

    Those are logs from your NVidia system, to debug the desktop mode issue we'll need a copy of your log from the Intel HD system.

  • I found and fixed the missing ID'd 3D model problem for the next unstable build. We'll likely put out a new 1.13 patch release soon.

    Did you try the -nofsaa command line option on your Intel HD system?

    Do you have any debugging tools installed on your system? We don't have direct access to any computer with Intel HD graphics that crashes this way, so we'll need your help if we are going to find a workaround or fix for the crash.

    I see, but Intel HD series is the only solution for Ultra Low Power PC's such as tablets and thin notebooks, and even Apple's MacBook Air. Don't ignore that piece of market.

    Added emphasis. We aren't ignoring such systems. The problem is that none of the systems we have access to, which use that video chipset, are exhibiting the crash you are reporting.
  • I have the Intel HD 3000, and I'm getting similar problems to the user in this topic, and they started with 1.13. I've also tried my luck with an unstable 1.14 build, to no avail.

    If I try to run Doomsday clean, Doomsday will launch, but it will crash when "starting game" is around 3/4 done:

    That forced command helped me to get a 800x600 windowed mode. But I still can't change a video mode from the game menu. When I try to change a resolution, the window size has changed, but UI elements doesn't change. Then the window just dimmed out like that.

    The game started in windowed mode, and then I turn it to full screen, and then tried to go back to windowed mode with failure.
  • a little late to say that with the new Intel driver 10.18.10.3431 there are no more problems with switching from fullscreen to windowed mode.
