What's the easiest way to add music to the game

Is there a way to add custom music to Doomsday? The only method I know if is to compress ogg files into a pk3 and add it as a mod. Is there any way to get Doomsday to play the tracks directly?

  • I suppose the simplest way is described here: https://manual.dengine.net/modding/overview_of_resources_doomsday_1.x

You name the music files so they match the original music lump names, and copy them into the directory "data/doom2/music/" (or "doom1-ultimate", etc., depending on which game the music is for).

The location of this directory depends on your operating system. On Windows for example it should be under Program Files or wherever you installed Doomsday.
  • Sorry this doesn't seem to work. I've been using the portable version of Doomsday. It works if the music files are in the root directory of a pk3 file, but that's the only way I can get the music to work.
