After trying to run with Build 357, Heretic SotSR crashes on startup with the following from the Doomsday.out file (abridged as noted):

I used ʻForce Quitʻ to terminate the program. Heretic SotSR now crashes even after rolling back to Build 353, which worked fine with Heretic. Ultimate Doom, Doom II, Plutonia, TNT, and Hexen run fine though. Didnʻt try DKOTDC. Not sure what I must do to recover a working instance of Heretic, Shadow of the Serpent Riders.

  • Its no wonder its crashing given all the errors being logged in your out file. You appear to be trying to load numerous Doom addons while attempting to play Heretic, for example.

    I suggest you disable all your addons and then systematically re-enable the ones you want to use until you find the culprit.

  • Turns out the culprit was JHRP 1.01 texture Shinemaps. The rest of JHRP 1.01 that I still use seems to work fine. All the Doom addons have been removed, except skyboxes which look great.

    The above was with Builds 353, 357, 360, & 361.
