Texture Drawing in Doom E1M9

In E1M9 of Doom, there's a cage with several Imps in the big room in the middle of the map, just about across from where you start in the level. However, the texture(s) on the cage render differently in Doomsday. I believe this goes back to 1.8.6 of Doomsday, but I haven't reinstalled 1.8.6 of Doomsday on either one of my computers to check it out.

Is this a bug in Doomsday, or is this intended?

  • You are correct; that is a bug.

    It appears that Dday beta 6.9 and the unstable builds seem to ignore the lower (and possibly also the upper) unpegged flag for mid textures; the upper texture on the cage appears to be correctly aligned (i.e. the lower unpegged flag on that linedef is being correctly applied to it).

    Dday 1.8.6 doesn't have this bug.
  • This issue has since been fixed in the ringzero+master branch. It will be incorporated into the master for the upcoming 1.9.7 release.
