No Particles?
Comparing the screenshots on dengine.net with my results I feel something's wrong with my installation (see screenshots). Particle effects are switched on, max number of particles 1700, spawn rate factor 1.00, near diffusion factor 4.00, and near clip distance 1000. I'm on an iMac, Mac OS X 10.5.7, ATI Radeon HD 2400.

Is this intended to be so? Is it a bug or is there something wrong with my installation? Any tips?

- Doom Hi-Res Texture Pack (dhtp-20090226.pk3)
- jDoom Environment Pack (jdep-all-20080614.pk3)
- jDoom Resource Pack (jdrp.box)
- jDoom User Interface Pack (jdui-all-20080614.pk3)
Then there's some additional packs like the skybox for Doom 1 or rain for some levels in Doom 1 (of which the latter didn't work lately), but I don't think they affect particle effects as I don't have particles in Doom 2 and Final Doom either. I also can't tell since which version particles don't work, because until half a year ago I had Doomsday running on an iBook with particles switched off.EDIT:
So, I just did a complete re-install of Doomsday and -- don't know why -- particles are working now. However, I noticed that the aforementioned jDEP breaks music functionality for me. When I start a game, there is no music. In all the following levels I only get the music of the info-screen shown in between two levels. This has probably been so before, I just didn't play often enough to notice this.
And another thing: when starting the game I don't have the new letters which come with one of the packs. Only after pressing F11 once (what does this do?), I get them -- but still not in the load and save menus. Could also have been before.
Hm, one problem solved, two new (minor) ones surfaced. Good deal, isn't it
The default control binding for F11 is to change the texture gamma level (note that this is not the same thing as the gamma setting which affects the entire render). In order to change the texture gamma level within the current engine architecture it means that all textures must be reloaded.
