Snowberry disappears when launched

edited 2013 May 25 in Technical Support
Problem: I've been playing this for about a week and it's been working fine, no problem. Try to load today, and nothing happens. It's like the application launches, but cannot be seen. It's very odd. No doomsday.out file.

OS: 64 bit Win 7, installed on hard drive petition created just for gaming. (O:\)

Sorry this is a strange problem ... here's a screenshot if it helps.

So the application is in the task bar, and if you click on it nothing appears. It's shown as running in Window's task manager, but I can't get to it. Rebooting and such as not helped. I'd simply reinstall but I don't want to lose my week of progress in Hexen ;)

I'd appreciate some advice. Sorry if this has been posted, I looked through this board for awhile but didn't see anything. By the way, if you search for "snowberry" it tells you the words are too common to search for.

Thank you for your help.

  • With the front end running, hold down shift and right click the name/icon on the taskbar. Now click maximize from the context menu. Does this solve the problem?

If not, can you check in your user documents folder for a file called Doomsday Frontend/runtime/snowberry.exe.log. If present please attach it here so we can take a look (this is a plain text file containing a log of any issues encountered at runtime).

You won't lose any progress by re-installing, saved games are retained.

Yeah... I think that is a phpBB issue. Any word found more than a certain number of times in the database will be promoted to "too common" status. You need to be more specific e.g., "snowberry disappears" (no useful results though).

That does! Thank you!! I figured it was likely some windows fix, though when I goog'd it, all I could find was people wanting to make programs hidden. Of course.

I really appreciate your efforts here ... these are some fantastic games that deserve this legacy. And thank you also for the quick reply.
  • Now you can drag the title bar down and resize it so it doesn't need to be full screen once you've made it maximized.
