Hexen crashing in Hub 3 chapels
Forgive me if some of this is a known issue, I did some searching and found similar things, but it wasn't clear if they were exactly the same.
I'm using the latest Doomsday beta (6.9) on Windows XP (SP3), and I've run into a snag with the program crashing while playing Hexen, using some specific portals, under certain conditions.
I'm on Hub 3 (Heresiarch's Seminary), and I've gotten to the point where there are portals to three different side dungeons, the Wolf Chapel, Dragon Chapel, and Griffin Chapel. I can enter each chapel just fine, travel between, them, or return to the Heresiarch's Seminary. However, gameplay requires a switches to be activated in each of these chapels, which is where the problem arises. When I enter a chapel, once I've activated the switch, attempting to go through the portals to the other chapels or back to the Heresiarch's Seminary will cause the game to crash during the loading screen. It isn't like a crash from a segmentation violation, which I've experienced before. The program doesn't give me a message, or open up the Doomsday.out file (though it does appear to update it), and it doesn't corrupt the previous save file (at least as far as I can tell, as it remains perfectly capable of being loaded). All I get is that Windows message you typically get when a program crashes (the "send/don't send" one).

I've attached a copy of my save files to reproduce the event. The first relevant save is f16, which is right before entering the chapels. At this point there is no problem, any of the chapels can be entered and exited without crashing. The second is f17, which is in the Griffin Chapel, right after it's switch has been activated. At this point, I am unable to leave the chapel through any of the portals, or the game will crash as I described. Activating the switch in any of the three chapels will create the same result, I just chose Griffin because the switch is quickest and easiest to get to.
I did have a problem similar to this before (as I touched on above), in the previous hub, in the Shadow Wood. There was a room full of raised and lowered platforms, as well as pits. Activating a switch in the room would shift all of them and create a flat floor for you to cross. However once this was done, after entering the portals to either of the side dungeons, trying to return to the Shadow Wood resulted in a crash. Fortunately, proceeding forward did not require activating that switch, as one could simply bypass it by jumping over the platforms in the room. My current problem is unique in that, as I mentioned above, the previous one did identify as a segmentation violation, open the doomsday.out file, and corrupt the last save prior to the crash.

Map 19 (34): WOLF CHAPEL
I've attached a copy of my save files to reproduce the event. The first relevant save is f16, which is right before entering the chapels. At this point there is no problem, any of the chapels can be entered and exited without crashing. The second is f17, which is in the Griffin Chapel, right after it's switch has been activated. At this point, I am unable to leave the chapel through any of the portals, or the game will crash as I described. Activating the switch in any of the three chapels will create the same result, I just chose Griffin because the switch is quickest and easiest to get to.
I did have a problem similar to this before (as I touched on above), in the previous hub, in the Shadow Wood. There was a room full of raised and lowered platforms, as well as pits. Activating a switch in the room would shift all of them and create a flat floor for you to cross. However once this was done, after entering the portals to either of the side dungeons, trying to return to the Shadow Wood resulted in a crash. Fortunately, proceeding forward did not require activating that switch, as one could simply bypass it by jumping over the platforms in the room. My current problem is unique in that, as I mentioned above, the previous one did identify as a segmentation violation, open the doomsday.out file, and corrupt the last save prior to the crash.
