Hexen crashes on OS X

Hi. 1st: thank you very much guys for this engine!!!! I love to play Doom, Heretic and especially Hexen. And here is the 2nd point: I can't play Hexen.

Sometimes, I can play the game. But sometimes, it crashes. Only Hexen crashes, not Doom or Heretic. Is this an known issue?

  • i am not a mac person but are you loading from a save game as i think there is problems with save games right now for hexen tho i am not to sure about that.
  • I've loaded a savegame, yes. But the game crashes also when I just start a new game. But I don't want to play the whole game in one round! Sometimes I must save the game...
  • i see is the dday out file from a save or a fresh load? if it's from a save then people might assume that it's save related and i know that reinstalling it will not help. the windows version works i think as it has not crashed on me.
  • I don't understand. You mean that OS X is the issue, do you?
  • Beta 6.9 saves "damaged" (to keep it simple) save games in HeXen, if you save while a script is running. It's a known issue that has probably been fixed for Beta 6.10, which Deng team hope to release around Christmas.

  • I've noticed this same problem happen while trying to use teleporters to different levels as well. Recently, I teleported to "Caves of Circe" and couldn't get out without the game crashing, and my backup save game located in the main hub level became corrupted! So now, neither work and I'll have to redo a significant amount of gameplay.

    But hey, if these problems get fixed soon, then that's great!
