Yeah but I *think* it still works with 1.8.6 once you change the master address. I have a feeling the master server script 2.0 skyjake whipped up didn't actually make it live? Although you could potentially hit a non-backward-compatible net protocol mismatch/version check.
From a user's point of view, multiplayer in 2.0 will function much the same as it did in 1.8.6 both on-line and over LAN. The majority of the differences being on a technical level.
