3 Questions consolidated in 1 thread (DOOM/2)

Hi.. a friend at work turned me on to this the other day and I'm loving playing my old favorite game again. Three questions concerning problems I have that maybe some can help answer:

1. My vaio runs in natively in 1920x1200, but the highest resolution I can pick using Kickstart (and in the in-game control panel) is 1600x1200. Is there any way to play in 1920x1200?

2. Related to the first I believe, when I exit the game, it hangs on the last screen forever and won't quit. I have to force quit using windows. After I force quit, my resolution has changed to 1600x1200 and I have to go manually change it back.

3. I've decided to use the mouse, and I'm not sure I like the default, "move mouse forward, player moves forward" setting. I would rather have the mouse look around, and move the character myself using "wasd." I have mapped the look up/down key to my mouse scroll, but as I said before, I'd rather be able to do that by moving the mouse.

Thanks for reading my questions, I am really enjoying playing DOOM with all the high rez textures and stuff. Haven't even begun to think about mods yet, but maybe soon.

EDIT: Ok, for future reference, I realized that all I had to do was increase the FOV to allow the game to play in 1920x1200. I increased to 110 because I have 16:10 aspect ratio. The game no longer hangs when exiting.

I would still like to find a way to use my mouse to look around. If you hold the "m" key, it puts you in "mouse view" mode where you can do this, but as soon as you let go, it no longer works. I wish I knew how to toggle "mouse view" on and off. Anyone?

Comments

  • For using Mouse Look using 1.8.6 version

    in-game go to:

Options -> Mouse Options -> Mouse look = yes
  • What about in the 1.9.0 beta? That option appears to have gone poof!
  • There is no longer a use for it, hence it was removed.

With the recent 1.9.0-Beta releases, all you need to do for mouse look is to configure the controls appropriately.
