controller/gamepad and wad recognition

I do not have the input option under the settings menu as depicted in skyjakes post (https://talk.dengine.net/discussion/comment/17288#Comment_17288)... also my xbox controller is not being recognized ingame. It does nothing when I try to bind keys, or when I press keys in game. Plus for some reason it does not recognize my doom 1 or doom 2 wads. I opted for complete installation. What did I do wrong??

there it loaded, so you can see that 1 and 2 aren't there, and bottom right corner no input option to fix the gamepad issue...

See the Getting started guide about configuring your game data files.

You need to have a game running to see the Input menu because the settings are game-specific.
