It sounds like your GPU or its drivers could be too old for Doomsday. What hardware and which operating system are you using?

Are you using a laptop or a desktop PC? Laptops usually have slower GPUs, especially if it's a built-in one like Intel HD Graphics.

If your computer can run games made in the last 5 years, it should also be able to run Doomsday.

If the latest version of Doomsday is failing for you, an older release like 1.10.4 might work better because it has less sophisticated GPU requirements. You can find 1.10.4 here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/deng/files/Doomsday Engine/1.10.4/doomsday_1.10.4.exe/download
