Warning
Hi, just registered to this forum to share some important info
I didn't exactly know where to put this, so I put it here
Ok, I just got into doomsday (which has been amazing so far) and thought I should share something I've discovered
while trying to unpack deng-inst-1.8.6.exe
my security software (kaspersky cbe09) discovered a virus in the file downloaded from sourceforge.net
the warning read
http://kent.dl.sourceforge.net/project/ ... -1.8.6.exe Firefox Found: HEUR:Worm.Win32.Generic
I don't have this problem with the same file I downloaded from ausgamers.com
kaspersky usually doesn't give false warnings so maybe you guys should check the file on sourceforge, just to be safe

Symantec Antivirus also reports no issues on this file.
Judging by the virus identifier ("generic" worm?), it looks very much like Kaspersky's heuristic algorithm found something that probably could be a worm, but it's likely just a false positive. Heuristic algorithms basically do guesswork based on known patterns so they could recognize previously unknown viruses.
I wouldn't be very worried in this instance.
