Problem when restoring saves [add-on compatibility, #2022]

Hi,

I want to report a bug with restoring savegames in version 2.0.2022. It happens in all three games - doom, heretic and hexen. When I save a game and after that restore it - it's okay, everything is fine. But when I restart the doomsday engine the saves won't restore anymore - a dialog shows which states that the addons are different from the time the game was saved and when I click "Load" it crashes. I want to say that I haven't changed the addons.

Edit: When I use a game profile without addons everything works perfectly. It even shows the savegames in a list under the profile in the Home screen of the Doomsday UI. In the profiles with addons no such lists are displayed.

    This is a brand new feature so some glitches are still to be expected. The good news is that your save files should be unaffected by this, there's just a problem when loading them. I'll check out what is going on...
  • I have found and fixed the bug that was making it crash when you tried to load the save. However, I discovered another issue that may be slightly annoying: the add-on information was not being saved in the correct order, meaning that even if you had the right ones loaded, it would still want to reload them to fix the order.

    As a workaround, it is possible to manually edit the .save metadata using a text editor and remove the incorrect "packages" entry. This will effectively disable the add-on check. I can give further instructions if you're interested.
  • I added a new feature for the next build. In the compatibility check dialog, you can now hold the Alt key to ignore the check and try to load the save without making any changes to the currently loaded add-ons. This is a better workaround than editing the .save metadata since the next time you write the save the metadata will be automatically corrected to be in the right order.
