Ubuntu 16.04 & "No playable game files"

edited 2016 Apr 28 in Technical Support
Just installed Doomsday 1.15.7-2 from the Ubuntu universe repository and besides an error with an audio driver everything seems fine. The issue is when I go to select a directory with my WAD files, it brings me back to this same screen (see attached screenshot), still saying "No playable game files". I've double-checked that all the WADs are fully read/write/execute for all users.

  • FYI, after messing around, I found that copying the .wad files into /usr/share/games/doom seems to do the trick. I definitely wish the UI could load the .wad files but at least there's an easy workaround.
