SittersPack with Risen3DPack video

edited 2015 Jul 29 in DOOM
If interesting, I had uploaded a short video showcasing some highlights of the maps made by Sitters under the Doomsday Engine:

Download Links for the Packs:
SittersPack.zip -- http://www.babins.org/Guy/SittersPack.zip
Risen3DPack.zip -- http://www.babins.org/Guy/Risen3DPack.zip

I felt I should include the texts for these packs. These are unofficially, especially the SittersPack. There are graphic glitches (some textures do not show correctly but are playable for cooperative multiplayer which is the main reason for these packs):
SittersPack.txt -- http://www.babins.org/Guy/SittersPack.txt
Risen3DPack.txt -- http://www.babins.org/Guy/Risen3DPack.txt

Also, present in the video, I used this high definition textures pack:

  • Doomsday Engine Frontend:

Under "Shared Settings" and the tab "Settings", you want to enable "Allow external with PWADs" in "Graphics".

This has fix some more textures on Sitters' maps (primary Alien Darkness and Chiller Castle). Unfortunately, I did not enable this function when I did the video. My apology.
  • Hi again. Just wanted to inform you all, if interesting, that I have posted another video showing cooperative play on the Doomsday Engine. The Doctor and I used the Doomsday Engine Build 1.10.4 for multiplayer at the moment. The video only show two maps of the four created by Sitters from the SittersPack which can be downloaded above the post. I have enabled "Allow external with PWADs" which fixed some graphic issues on the two maps as you would see in the new video.

Just be aware, SittersPack and Risen3DPack are unofficial packs used primary for cooperative multiplayer under the Doomsday Engine. The Risen3D engine does not support multiplayer which is why I had compiled the packs for Doomsday Engine. Luckily, Risen3D is based on an old build of the Doomsday Engine which make it easily accessible to compile these packs to work with the recent build of the Doomsday Engine. The packs are "unofficial", especially the SittersPack, since some elements do not work correctly on the recent build of the Doomsday Engine. Skyboxes, some models (weapons), and a different hud display do not show up on Sitters' maps which was originally intended to be. You can see the differences on the screenshots I have found on the net here:
    http://www.wadsinprogress.info/?a=listwads&user=sitters

This is where, at the time, I had downloaded Sitters' maps. Unfortunately, the links of these original maps are broken or unavailable. Luckily, I have found some that I have burned on a CD. I thought repackaging the original files into .pk3 files (in order to work with recent build of Doomsday Engine) and shared them would be nice for those who's interesting.

Here's the link of the new video:

    Enjoy!
  • So is Sitters still doing stuff for Doom? If not, what happened to him? Just curious.
  • I do not know what's Sitters up to today. However, you can view his personal webpage that I have found here:

    http://www.md2.sitters-electronics.nl/

His most recent maps can be found on the Risen3D homepage which are very good. He did some rework on some of his Doomsday Engine maps under Risen3D. The link is here:

    http://risen3d.drdteam.org/

View the tab "Maps", his maps (co-authored by Abbs as well) are listed there.
  • Since the graphic glitch was fixed above, I wanted to show one more video which I didn't covered in the Cooperative Mode video. The video showcase two original Doomsday Engine maps created by Sitters, "Hell on Egypt" and "The Aztec". The Doctor and I have already played these in cooperative so I just created a Singleplayer Mode video instead:

There is also another link (on the video's description) of the Risen3D version of "Hell on Egypt" which in my opinion is a better edition than the Doomsday Engine version. It nice to see how that map evolved between two.

    Enjoy!
  • Good to see them working on doomsday though
  • @Tea Monster

Yeah I'm still working on a map, its
heavily scripted for interaction with models.

It's not going fast, because I'm very busy in real life.

  • Cool! Glad to see you are still Dooming! Good luck with the map.
  • I have managed to get the last two maps I had from the CD of Sitters' old Doomsday Engine maps to work with the recent build of Doomsday Engine. Although, there are still graphic glitches especially in the "Lost City". You would notice in the distance that the new models are the Nazi soldiers in Doom 2 if you decided to download it. SittersPack2_unofficial contains two maps, "Lost City" and "Welcome to Hell". Unfortunately, that's all the Sitters' maps I have to share. Enable the Risen3DPack as well when playing these maps. You can download at mid-section of this webpage (includes screenshots):

Or you can go straight to the download here:

    Here's the Readme txt:
    http://www.babins.org/Guy/SittersPack2_unofficial.txt

Refresh if it doesn't come up at the first time.

    Enjoy.

Update: I had to update my pack since there where no way to progress (even on cheats) on "Welcome to Hell" map. Edited the teleport trigger to multiple instead of one time to enable multiple clients to progress further in the map. See Readme txt.
  • I just wanted to provide a video link I have just uploaded showing brief gameplay introductions of Sitters' "Lost City" and "Welcome to Hell" maps. Enjoy.
