Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Lag [Solved]

edited 2015 May 21 in Technical Support
Hey guys, I'm new to this whole Doomsday Source Engine.
I was wondering if there are any known issues with bluetooth keybords/mouses.
There is massive lag and horrible responsiveness when trying to use my bluetooth peripherals.
If I press a key, it may not register at all or it takes a few seconds to respond.
If I use the laptop's keyboard and mouse it's fine.
Also, very odd....the bluetooth mouse works fine on my mousepad in windows, but doesn't work on the mousepad in game; if I put the mouse on a different surface it picks it up ok.
Are there any fixes?

Thanks!

  • I don't know if I can help you, this sounds a lot like a misbehaving Bluetooth driver. From Doomsday's point of view, it just receives the key/mouse input events via the Windows windowing system and doesn't really care which device is generating them.

Does your Bluetooth keyboard/mouse work normally with other 3D games?

If you have any wired USB keyboards/mice, do they work normally with Doomsday?

In the future, we are planning to use SDL2 to get mouse/key events since that taps into lower level APIs in Windows, maybe that'll help you.
  • Yeah it's really weird. The mouse and keyboard works fine with other games and in windows. It's only in Doomsday that it gets really unresponsive. This is running off of my laptop and the keyboard and mouse on the laptop work fine. Im currently at work but when I get back I will see if I can update the drivers for my bluetooth and see if that does anything.
  • I managed to get the mouse/keyboard working. I was mistaken in listing them as bluetooth devices, they are 2.4 wireless devices. Im not sure what exactly fixed it. I swapped the receiver to a usb 3.0 port and also installed a handful of windows updates (someone suggested updates on another forum). It looks like the combo I have (Logitech MK720) has given the same problem to a bunch of others in various environments. Not the most expensive combo but seems to be working nicely now.

    Thanks again!
  • Glad to hear you resolved the problem! Thanks for taking the time to post your solution :)
