Faces rendering oddly

I'm having a problem with Hexen in Doomsday 1.6 where some of the faces seem non-existent or see-through. What can I do to fix this? I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with 8gb of ram, and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500 Series graphics card.

  • That looks like a Z-buffer problem, and with the log saying "OpenGL 2.1 supported" (not 3.3 like a modern driver would say), it leads me to believe that this is an OpenGL driver compatibility issue (namely, a problem with rendering the Z buffer into a texture with a particular format that Doomsday expects to be available). Currently Doomsday's rendering is not 100% compatible with older drivers. I'm currently taking steps to improve the lower-level OpenGL code we use for setting up the game window, though, so the situation may improve in the future.

    You might wish to try the "-nofsaa" option (in case antialiasing happens to be enabled), or try one of the older stable releases where the rendering is still simpler.
