Hexen II uses an enhanced version of the Quake I/II engine, which as you know is a true 3D engine. Doomsday is designed for games based on a so-called 2.5D engine. As such, it is not possible to use Doomsday to play Hexen II.
download the file and put all the contents in your hexen 2 main folder, then double click on jshexen 2.exe . For me is the best hexen 2 project and the last update is november 2015.

I had a look at this, and it looks amazing in-game. Great new textures, great interface, great in-game options, great music.
Sadly, it's in a foreign language. I don't even know what language it is. This made it impossible for me to read on-screen messages within the game. This probably wouldn't matter if it were just a straight shooter like Doom, but for a puzzle-based game like Hexen II, the messages and hints are pretty important.
Oh well.
I wonder if the guys responsible will ever consider an English language version.

The language is russian; but don't worry because it's multi-2...russian and english!!!a way to work it in english is from menù game but it's hard...I don't know russian like you ...but a second way is from *.ini file. Later i'll post a little guide "how to do this"; now i am not at home. Or badly i can share with you with Google drive my jshexen 2 in ita\eng.

I actually got this to work bug free on my mac believe it or not. Although there was some horrific screen tearing when looking around...
