OS X Doomsday Engine Stuck on Loading Screen [solved]

I’ve just downloaded the newest OS X version of Doomsday Engine but all of the games; Doom, Ultimate Doom, and Heretic get stuck between the load screen and the start of the game. You can hear the game in the background but the screen stays on the difficulty selection page. Hexen doesn’t even show the load screen. Just the GUI with the Hexen button shaking like its being repeatedly pressed and the game sound in the background. If you could route me to a solution I would appreciate the assistance.

  • Please attach your doomsday.out like suggested in the Note above. Which OS X version are you using and what is your graphics adapter? One thing you could try is disabling antialiasing with the -nofsaa command line option (add to the text box in the Frontend under Settings -> Developer -> Custom options).

    I just tried to use the -nofsaa option but when starting up any game now all I have is a black screen. I can hear the game in the background but no visuals. I tried uploading the doomsday.out file in my original post but the Upload attachment option on this page didn't work. The info I was able to extract from it using TextEdit is below. I am using an iMac running OSX 10.9.2 with a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 12 GB of RAM, and an ATI Radeon HD 4670 256MB video card.

  • @skyjake - Disregard that last post! The -nofsaa option solved all problems.. I thought I had to enter it in the command line when the game was running then I reread your post and saw the instruction to enter it in the frontend engine and it worked perfectly. THANKS!! Any way to get the DOOM:ONE mod to work on Doomsday?
