Cannot delete/overwrite key bindings

edited 2014 Jan 26 in Technical Support
I'm running version 1.12.2 on OS X 10.8 and I'm having issues setting up key bindings for turning and strafing. The default controls are A and D for strafing, and the arrow keys for turning. I want to switch them. The issue is that when I bind an already-used key to a second action, it doesn't overwrite the original binding, so I end up with A, D, and the arrow keys being used for strafing AND turning.

After a search of the forums I read that I should be able to remove a key binding in the controls menu by highlighting the binding I want to remove and pressing the delete key, but this just sends me back to the previous menu. So I have no idea how to remove a binding, other than to delete the config file, but this just causes the bindings to reset to the defaults which is what I want to change.

That's strange... I can't reproduce this on my system. Does it keep happening if you reset your bindings completely with the commands "clearbindings; defaultbindings" in the console? Also, have you tried 1.13.2?

Yeah, the Backspace key sends you to the previous menu. You'll specifically need to press Delete, which may not have a dedicated key on your keyboard, especially if it's a small/laptop style keyboard. Try pressing Fn+Backspace.
