Not a newbie but a newbie (help with installation)
Hi
Just found this site and it seems very well run.
My problem is I suffer from a shocking memory
Doom is my favourite single player of all time especially Doom II
Last year the game just stopped working so I uninstalled it.
I decided today I'd love my fix of Doom again and when I went to try I failed.
I d/l the Doomsday engine but then I'm stuck.
I want to play with the jDoom version (3D models hi res graphics)
Can someone please please do a step by step for this old timer?

Place the jdrp.box folder in C:\Program Files\Doomsday\Snowberry\Addons (if this is where you installed Doomsday)
I have done the above, but doomsday simply won't run, as I said I played on this pc set up b4.
I use apple a lot and just forgot my bearings for a minute.
I had Doom, Doom II, and Plutonia & TNT in my Doom 3 folder....
I just have to find the screen resolution size and import the hi res models and I should be good to go.
Thanks for all help.
A;so this version of Doomsday is far superior to the one I played b4, it's fantastic.
(Note there are several threads here at the forums about HUD model positioning/scaling configuration.)
Where do I find the folder that contains these cvars?
that post you linked is 2 years old so I am guessing the update you suggested never happened?
As of right now the only solution to this issue is to manually apply a suitable offset to the HUD models... However, this can be done quite painlessly by opening the console and then tweaking the values until they are positioned appropriately for your display.
I know how to open the console (whoo-hoo!)
But I don't know what to type in (tweaking the values as you said)
When changing the value of a cvar, enter the name of the cvar you want to change followed by the value you want to change it to. For example:
(Note that when searching the forums for information on a cvar it is necessary to replace hyphens with period characters. This is because phpBB considers a hypen as a word search delimiter)
I ended up having a nice choice of 2 options, keeping the Hud (which I do love) and using 10 or 5 or removing it completely which is a nice different way to play.
BTW, a third option, given you like not having a HUD, is to make use of the "auto hide" features (see the HUD submenu from the game's own Options menu) which allows one to configure the HUD so that it is automatically revealed when key game events occur (such as when picking up some new goodies or upon taking damage).
I have to say all the versions I ever played this is beyond doubt to be the finest, I even played the 32x version on the megadrive!
Now that takes me back... Although I've been playing DOOM on PC since the original shareware release via BBS, I have many fond memories of the 32X port. Despite the fact it was a pretty poor rendition, the bastardized music still holds a certain nostalgic charm for me.
Thanks for the kind words. Its always nice to hear that people are enjoying our work.
