Problem w/ Hexen DeathKings & DEng 1.9.0beta6.6
Has anyone reported problems launching the Hexen add-on "DeathKings" with DEng v1.9.0 beta 6.6?
I'm using HEXENDD.WAD dated 5/9/1996 5:34pm (this is "patched" version with the additional MP maps). File size is 4,440,584 bytes.
Environment(s) are WindowsXP sp1a and WindowsXP sp2.
Note that the add-on launches just fine under both environments when using DEng v1.9 beta 5, with no library.zip or resource pack enabled.
The last line in doomsday.out (available for posting, if needed) for v1.9.0 beta 6.6 is: "R_Init: Init the refresh daemon." But as best as I can tell, that's not an error; the launch routine is failing on whatever happens next. I suspect, without any proof, that it's the "PNAMES not found" problem. Yet, as I said, the add-on launches easily in DEng v1.9 beta 5.
Thanks.

As you indicated in your retraction, the thread item #171 had nothing to do with my problem. However, I did a search across the entire thread. And while that result did not reflect any similar postings, it did give me an idea. And that idea led to the solution. It's a quasi-forehead-slapping-'duh' solution.
Problem:
Directory c:\DEng\data\ contained files "Hexen.wad" and "Hexdd.wad".
In the Snowberry Front End, Hexen | game data file pointed to c:\DEng\data\Hexen.wad.
For Hexen: DK | game data file pointed to c:\DEng\data\Hexdd.wad.
For Hexen: DK | addons were the jhexen resource pack (XCCP) and library.zip.
Solution:
I moved Hexdd.wad from c:\DEng\data\ to c:\DEng\snowberry\addons\.
I changed Hexen: DK | game data file from c:\DEng\data\Hexdd.wad to c:\DEng\data\Hexen.wad.
I changed Hexen: DK | addons by adding Hexdd.wad.
Presto! The game launches fine. Apparently, I misinterpreted hexdd.wad as a standalone, which the other .wads are. And as such, Snowberry couldn't launch it because the required main hexen.wad was not included in the launch routine.
Sometimes, accidents aren't necessarily bad things. Rock on. B-)
I am honestly not trying to be nasty at all in saying this (honestly!), but how on earth did you make such a silly mistake? Ever since Doomsday 1.9.x, i.e. Snowberry Doomsday, AFAIK the Quickstart/Add Game dialog ALWAYS said "Deathkings, unlike other games, must be loaded as an Addon to Hexen.wad" and you have to specify the location of both, after which it moves HEXDD.WAD to the addons/ folder for you. It couldn't be easier at all!
I will just assume that you are completely new to Snowberry then :P
Regardless, good to hear you fixed it. Maybe you should add a [SOLVED] or something to the thread title
