Hexen Frostshards light sources

I have noticed that in the build 979 and later the second mage's weapon Frostshards now have light sources in theirs projectiles. Maybe it's right to have light sources for that weapon, but now it looks too bright, imo. I can lit almost half of the map with it :D
It brighter than any other weapon and effect in the game.

  • those look like original textures, I wonder how it acts with the High Res textures? It shouldn't make a difference but it does, different textures seem to have different lighting.
  • Actually, it should and will make a difference. Lighting properties if not specified in a user-supplied definition (e.g., from some mod) are automatically calculated by the engine from textures. Sprites for example are processed to determine their brightest point (see monster attack frames). Map textures are processed to determine ambient colors used when lighting the world (see the blue tint cast by the sky in the above screenshot).
