  • Isn't the point of the face to simply enjoy it's various states and animations?

What would be the point in concealing it with the helmet? Just to have a helmet on the screen?

    I don't get it.
  • Just never mine all because of your comment making it seem that i feel stupid -_-
  • I didn't mean to make you feel bad, or anything. It's just a weird request.
  • It could be done easily by taking screenshots of one of the 3D models for the marine at different angles...
  • I remember finding a HUD that gave the Doom marine a helmet. Give me a day or so to look around for it and I'll post it up for you.
  • What'd be cool if Doomsday was able to change the HUD when the marine steps outside (If player enters sector with roof height=x, set hud graphic=y for example) so it's as if he puts his spacesuit on when he steps outside :)
  • I'm having much trouble tracking down the website where I found the helmet HUD that I'm looking for, what with Doomsday switching websites and the shitstorm that is NewDoom are making this quite hard. I remember that I could find it back at Doomsday's old blue website, and remember finding Didi's weapons and a version of kickstart modified to work with Doomsday 1.9.0 on there too. Is there an archive of Doomsday's old website anywhere?
  • The link at the footer of Dengine.net labelled "Archived Site" is dead, so the best one I could fine is here - http://web.archive.org/web/200606152137 ... ngine.net/ which was taken from the first entry at http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://dengine.net

It is the 'old blue' site you speak of I believe (?) but I couldn't see any reference to a new HUD addon.

EDIT: Mochtroid, I dug around Newdoom and found that this helmet-face-hud mod you speak of should be located here - http://forums.jfiles.org/dload.php?acti ... file_id=35 however the jfiles.org forum was never archived by the web beyond the forum frontpage. We're indeed going to need to find out if Deng staff (or whoever originally maintained that site) has any backups I'm afraid.
  • I was actually talking about doomsdayhq.com and while I found the link I was looking for, it was hosted on NewDoom, and therefore dead. What with this helmet HUD not being in my collection of old CD backups I made of Doomsday and the like years and years ago and being seemingly lost to the internets, I fear it may be gone forever.

    -edit-
Scratch that, I think I may have found it. Yes I have and it is indeed a beautiful sight to see it again! I've uploaded it to rapidshit, so hurry!

I'm also trying to track down MasterGunz2345 to report that their request has been met, but they seem to be publishing little to no contact information, being quite the lurker... ...and weeaboo.
  • Sorry I havent been on lately, been busy with 7th grade, which sucks, but thanks a bunch, I love it.
  • OH YEAH, thanks for that Space Marine! *Snagged*

Hmm... I actually prefer the one in jDUI to be quite frank. But still, good to have. Would you mind sharing where/how you found it...?
  • Using the wayback machine I checked the history of Doomsday's original website and ran across the coveted Doomsday Xtra Links. If you select "jDoom Xtra Links" on the side, you will discover where I got a copy of Kahveen's Doom Guy, along with other classic addons that I knew so well back in the day.
  • ah, xtra links. Good crawling skillz ;)
  • Funny thing is that was my site.

...and where the heck were you when i said 'maybe someone has a backup' nearly a week ago? Lol nar just muckin' around!
  • I would love to visit that site but it aint loading
  • Yeah Gunz, it's not working for me either. The furthest I could dig was via this link: http://web.archive.org/web/200608231735 ... /dload.php

But the web archive has next-to-no support for crawling PHP generated websites, all subforums seem to be unarchived.
  • well when I click the link, the Jfiles logo is there and Doom stuff is there, but when I click on the Doom Part, or texture or any of that crap, its like this ad stuff and nothing to do with Jdoom.
