Doomsday in Windows 8 error - worked fine in 7 [Resolved]

edited 2012 Nov 24 in Technical Support
Greetings,

I had successfully installed DE 1.9.9 in Windows 7 x64. Had a great time with it and my old familiar DOOM & DOOM 2 beasties. Thanks a bunch for resurrecting them.

I've just made the jump to Windows 8 x64 and am immediately confronted with an OpenGL error message. Details below. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

  • I suppose I should add this Windows 8 x64 install was not an upgrade, rather a new clean install from non-OEM RTM media.
  • Sounds like you haven't yet installed your video driver and are still using the default driver included in the OS.

Correct. I'll try the driver from ATI.
  • The ATI driver was the fix. Thank you. :)

I do not recall if I had ever loaded an ATI supplied driver on the Windows 7 load.
