Doomsday Engine menu will not open

edited 2012 Oct 15 in Technical Support
Greetings All... B-)

I downloaded Doomsday Engine a month ago and played it with no problems, and i still have it installed on my pc.

Today when i run it for some strange reason the Doomsday Engine Menu doesnt load. I only have the DE signature open and it wont open the menu.

I tried to reinstall Doomsday Engine and to install a updated version of Doomsday Engine but no i still get this problem...

any help would REALLY BE APPRECIATED.

Thank you all.

  • Sorry but I don't understand what issue you are reporting. Are you saying that the Doomsday Frontend does not appear? Or that you can't open the in-game menu? Or that when you start Doomsday the game is not loaded (you can't see the game menu)?

    Please rephrase.
  • I'm referring to the menu that you choose what games you want to load, This menu wont open for me.

I only see the DE signature but the menu wont open.
  • I'm going to hazard the guess that you mean the Doomsday Frontend is not visible. See the following thread about this issue:

  • DaniJ i really appreciate your good intention to help me, im sorry if i sound unclear.

When you Click on Doomsday Engine icon of the program it suppose to open you a menu that allows the player to choose witch game he wants to play...

Example : Ultimate Doom, Doom II, Final Doom ( Doom TNT: Evilution & The Plutonia Experiment)... and i can go on depending on the games that the player has... Like i said before this menu that supposed to give me the option of what games i want to play does not open for me. All i see is the DE signature of the program without the menu.

Im using windows 7 and the link you gave me might be the problem, it says right click the Doomsday icon on the taskbar and then select 'maximize' and then drag it when it is maximized, it should fix it, Problem is i dont have maximize option in my taskbar. The only options i have are :

    - Open File Location
    - End Process
    - End Process Tree
    - Debug (Outlined Cannot Be Selected)
    - UAC Virtualization (Outlined Cannot Be Selected)
    - Create Dump File
    - Set Priority
    - Set Affinity
    - Properties
    - Go to Services
  • Try holding down the shift key and then rightclick on the taskbar icon. That should give you access to the application menu which should feature "maximize".
  • Mate, Thank You soo much.

Your Right it was the Doomsday Frontend is not visible Problem.

My mistake was that i was looking for maximized option in Windows Taskbar Manager and not in the Doomsday Engine Taskbar Manager.

Im glad i got it working... ANYONE WHO SEES THIS, Make 100% Sure your Looking For The Option in Doomsday Engine Taskbar Manager And not in Windows.

DaniJ... I thank You Soo Much Mate =)
  • No problem. I'm glad to hear you resolved it :)
