Properly adjusting Halo settings for optimized lighting

I need help as well as a few tips regarding the Halo settings. I want to be able to adjust the Halo setting in order to make things look better than If left at default settings.

    What do you want it to look like? The default settings have been chosen specifically because we believe that is the best looking configuration.

    I want it to look dark to the point of adding a sense of fear but not too dark to the point that I can't see

    Have a go with the 'light compression range' option on the 'light' tab, in the control panel.
