Movement along angled walls in Dday 1.9.8 isn't quite perfect; it's on the cards to be fixed at some point though.
If you mean you are actually sticking to walls, make sure you aren't running the old Sambo's sound pack add-on. That add-on isn't fully compatible with modern Dday and that is a bug said add-on causes with modern Dday. The add-on can be fixed to work with modern Dday, but, as far as I am aware, no-one has had the interest in the add-on to correct it.
The problem with the wall sliding is that it doesn't really work in the original game, its a rather flaky kludge that we have to emulate in Doomsday.
There might well be a bug in the wall slide emulation so if there is a specific map construct that you are having trouble sliding along please let us know so we can investigate.
Following on from the above report I made a while back, I'll add Map03: Aztec in Plutonia; this issue makes it pretty difficult to smoothly navigage the narrow winding passages that make up a large proportion of this map.
