Risen 3d model pack.
Yeah as the subject says. I just recently checked the risen model pack and damn it looks so mutch better than the old jdrp. I tried to make it work in doomsday but with no luck. Anyone thinking of doing a doomsday conversion of this pack ? Or maybe take the best of both packs and put it together ?

Anyone here tried Risen with the model pack recently ? if you did you would see what i mean.
loads of models are alot better and almost everything looks great compared.
Risen3D supports jpeg model skins and Dday doesn't*, which can be dealt with by converting the jpeg skin files to PNG or something. Bare in mind that this will make the packs considerably larger.
Risen3D has a few model def flags Dday doesn't, but improvements to Dday since Risen3D split renders the need for most of those flags in Dday redundant. The one or two remaining are negiable (double speed spinning for instance).
Risen3D's folder set up is slightly different to Ddays; Dday won't automatically find the deds within the Risen Model Pack PK3's. Simply move the deds to somewhere Dday will find them (easiest, if not most professional place would be 'Defs/JDoom/Auto'). The model paths themselves are defined in the deds, so they don't need to be touched.
*even though jpeg's lack the fidelity of PNG's, any reason why Dday couldn't support the format for the sake of it?
EDIT: RFE for jpeg model skin support added: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=d ... tid=542102
yes this is the correct website.
I wish i had more exp with things like this i sat down for like 3hours trying to make it work :P
with all the new stuff happening with doomsday atm it would be real nice to have this model pack.
or does that not do anything different?
EDIT: I ended up making a zipfile of the extracted risen3D modelpack, and it looks almost just like an older version of the jdrp, anyway... The more recent one is far better, by all means...
It looks like Risen3D is using the old folder structure slightly modified to get things going.
In the zipfile, all I had to do was make sure all the CONTENT like the Items, Monsters, etc. folders were in the Data/jDoom/Models/ folder. In addition, I just put the DED files into the main part of the zipfile, outside of the folders. Unless there are a few things missing from the DEDs that I don't know about where specific folders are specified in the DEDs, that's basically all there is to it.

I only made the 3D models, animations and the lod versions.
I don't know if Doomsday can switch automatic to the lod versions
of the 3D models, otherwise you don't need them.
