Yes. Personally I think automatic updates for Windows and Mac are long overdue.

Just make sure the "auto" update has a confirmation screen, for people who wish to keep the current build. In other words, something like "Doomsday has found a new version. Upgrade now?".

I imagine it will have a variety of settings, including never update, automatically update, prompt when there is an update availible etc etc.
