Recorddemo does not work

I use the newest build of doomsday 2.0 (2047). I tried to record a demo by typing 'recorddemo demo' in the console. I only obtained the message 'recorddemo failed'. No additional information on the console or in the doomsday.out file.
Is recorddemo still supported? Do I use it correctly? Is it essential for recorddemo to have some/none packages loaded?

Demo recording is not supported presently. There are no concrete plans for bringing it back — most likely this can be addressed after the low-level network code is cleaned up and revised. Multiplayer is planned to be a focus area in the 2.1 release, after the current work on the stable 2.0 is finished (Home UI & package management).

It will be great if one can convert a recorded demo into a mpg/avi/mp4 file (without need of using an external video capture software).
