Q. What is the "public demo" meaning?<br />
A. That demo shows the game's "vertical slice" with the complete Winnowing Hall level. Every feature that will be in the full Addon is present including 3d models, textures, and VFX.<br /><br />
Q. Why it's taking so long?<br />
A. Because Veirdo spent more time on his career rather than on a project.<br /><br />
Q. You guys said all 3D models are done. Why are they not included?<br />
A. That's right. Thanks to Emmanuel (the project owner) and Grigoriy Ischenko (our main 3D modeler), all the models are complete. But models are not game assets. There is a long way for them to shine in the game including animation speed matching the state machine, sprite size matching, color correction, scripting, shaders and VFX. But mainly, because Veirdo is a slacker.<br /><br />
Q. Why the heck visual effects are so cartoony?!<br />
A. Two reasons. First of all the particle system and its renderer in Doomsday Engine is severely outdated. And instead of trying to pull it to match a new model renderer, Veirdo is pushing it even further back. The second reason is the diversity of Veirdo's VFX skills to produce hand-painted animated flipbooks. He will gladly update all VFX when the renderer is ready.<br /><br />
Q. What's next?<br />
A. Veirdo will make biweekly public updates on the new models.]]>

It's been since mars 2019 I started a project with some people of the community of Hexen, we plan to release a project for Hexen in Doomsday who has a good quality.<br /><br />
I can't share things from the game because the team have to finish some stuff for the world renderer and others but i'm allowed to show some 3D models of the sketchfab. I paid for all the 3D models, animations and textures of it except a few, beside, Veirdo code the stuff for it to put it in the game with some improvements and modifications and VFX, he uses a custom FBX code he made who make it really great, Doomsday has really a big potential for that!<br /><br />
We plan to release a first version (beta without exploded corpses) in late 2022 if everything go well, not sure about the date, it will be compatible with classic/vanilla maps.<br /><br />
GrigoryArx for the work on the 3D models, animations and textures (all drawed by hand).<br />
Skyjake is working on the new world renderer and other stuff for doomsday.<br />
Veirdo is working now to put everything in the game and VFX<br />
Leo for the support and help, he will make video streams of the mod.<br />
I saw some stuff in action in game and i can tell you it's gonna be really amazing!<br /><br />

You can hear Hall being played in the video Hexen Music PK3 File contained in the Playlist (should be last video listed, number 32).<br /><br />
Kevin did a wonderful job in creating the pieces for Hexen almost 30 years ago with limited technology, and this made it fairly easy to convert to new versions.  These versions are more rock-oriented in that there are a lot of guitars in the group, along with heavy drums, etc.  Other folks have gone more orchestral.  For the original Hexen, I like a more pumped-up rendition.<br /><br />

        <description><![CDATA[I'm trying to make <a href="/home/leaving?allowTrusted=1&amp;target=https%3A%2F%2Fforum.zdoom.org%2Fviewtopic.php%3Ff%3D42%26t%3D62295" rel="nofollow">my Hexen map</a> more compatible with Doomsday engine. This is currently the MAPINFO definition.<br /><pre spellcheck="false" tabindex="0">map 1 "BASTION"&#13;

The big issue is that the map has lightning in Doomsday engine because it occupies the same slot as MAP01, even though there's no lightning in Chocolate Hexen. So, I figure that I need to either find a way to fix that, or I need to make an equivalent DED map definition. So far, I've been unable to figure how how to get the same sky in the DED format. If someone could explain how to do this, I would appreciate it.]]>

        <description><![CDATA[<b>High Quality textures for Hexen</b><br /><br />Current version: 0.06<br /><br />All textures here started from 3d models, then rendered to normal maps and ambient occlusion, then painted albedo, specular and glossiness maps and finally rendered on a plane with a PBR OpenGL renderer to a single texture with one directional light source from left shoulder. All textures have 800% resolution from originals.<br />
Since they were rendered with a PBR they will NEVER be similar to the hand-painted originals. I only can keep original design and base colors.<br /><br />
All textures have their own reflection maps, shine masks and parameters definitions, so it's STRONGLY recommended to turn off any other texture add-ons.<br />
At some point I will merge textures from here to a XARP texture pack.<br /><br />

        <description><![CDATA[Certain 2D static items in the original game, such as statues and torches, all rotate to face the camera. In the jHexen Resource Pack, the 2D items, which are now 3D items, all face in one direction. And by this I mean that <i>all</i> items of the same type face in the same direction, no matter where they are on the map. There's no real compass in the game, so I can't give you a cardinal direction, but I <i>can</i> show you a couple of screencaps taken from a room in the Darkmere area of Hub 2, exhibiting a couple of rows of Minotaur statues. Note that each row is directly across the room from the other, and also note my inability to find the "Take Screenshot" key, and try not to mind the console in the way.<br /><br />
Also, what attachment types are allowed?         <description><![CDATA[In Hexen: Death Kings of the Dark Citadel in the very beginning of the 3rd episode if you turn to your right you will see a large pillar and it will have exploding “puffs” of fog around and behind it.  However, this only seems to happen if I am using jXCCP_123.pk3.   If I use jXCCP.pk3, I see only darker clouds floating in the fog (similar to the sky).  This is with an Intel CPU, Nvidia GPU and with build 926.<br /><br />
Each gives a different feel to the environment.<br /><br />
Are people with AMD equipment also getting this effect?]]>

        <description><![CDATA[Hi, I worked on the Hexen MIDI files in FL Studio 10 using high quality samples, plugins, and special effects.  The songs are in OGG format.  I really wanted to make the music sound like it was orchestrated.  There are some minor issues where some instruments/choirs would cut back on after fading out in some of the songs.  This is due to the way Kevin Schilder designed the MIDI files.  I don't know how to set up the music as a jHexen mod so it would be nice if someone could do it and put it on the Add-ons section. They aren't perfect but then again they do add something that the originals are missing. It is a work in progress and I will post some vids later. Hey, I was thinking of messing around with the Afrit then...<br />
I was curious as I was looking through the state definitions, but I was a little confused as there's no entry in the Wiki (I could write one if just a couple of things were made clear, but I don't think I'd need to ask about just one) about them...<br /><br />
With the Imp in Heretic, there was a specific state change for when it charged at you, so then I made the frames for it doing that.  With the states for the Afrit, it doesn't appear that there's any specific "states" for when it dodges from side to side or backwards.  Is that the case?  And if so, will that ever change?  I was just wondering if I should pose frames for it if I do the afrit, that way in case the .blend is lost, at least they will be done; even if it's not, at least no extra work would have to be done later.<br /><br />
I just think it would be really cool if he looked like he was actually swooping left, right, or pushing back in such cases.  Otherwise one might ponder if he was really moving, or if the whole world was moving around him! <img src="https://talk.dengine.net/resources/emoji/wink.png" title=";)" alt=";)" height="20" /><br /><br />
I just realized that this might be a redundant question, what with the new definitions stuff for 2.0...<br />

        <description><![CDATA[I know this isn't true to the game but I would like to see a few things that I think would add to the game without detracting from the game. For instance, I would like to see the Ettin have both heads alert while standing guard, one looking this way and the other looking another, in a random fashion. Also, when a monster takes damage, a head turn might add to the realism. I know that the sprites didn't do this but we have much better equiptment than we had way back then. Also, the ettins walk is rather stiff, I would like to see it more fluid. I don't know the limits of Deng so I don't know if any of this is possible, but it would sure make for a  better experience.]]>
