  • Looking through my private repo it appears all the subversion branches came through as branches, not tags with git svn clone. On windows I use Msysgit ( http://code.google.com/p/msysgit/ ) - I haven't played with it too much, as I've not been doi…
  • Interesting choice with the move to git. It certainly explains why I've not been getting updates to git svn fetch Find any issues with the conversion to git ? I used git svn clone myself - it took a while but seems to have worked well. I find…
  • I have to ask, is it expected that DaniJ will be doing all of the heavy lifting ? If so, has that been discussed with him ? I'm starting to see similar signs of burnout in him, that I had working on deng. Of course if he does burnout, it makes it…
  • Skyjake, While it's nice to see that you want beta 6.1 out this month, I can't help but notice a big glaring omission in this master plan. I've not seen any fixes go into svn from you at all this month. In fact, it's only DaniJ doing these fix…
  • That is actually very interesting. I look forward to seeing the results of your changes.
  • Vertex arrays (the OpenGL function GL_EXT_compiled_vertex_array ) have been in use on Win32, *NIX, and OSX the entire time I was with the project. If you do have access to hardware that shows the bug, try making a test OpenGL app, that renders eg…
  • Fundamentally this is a bug with the Nvidia driver, and one that appears specific to the Windows drivers (It doesn't occur on say dual core Linux boxes). In a nutshell, the driver is designed to be taking large chunks of OpenGL commands in a sing…
  • From a security point of view, I think it's a bad idea to statically link libpng and libcurl. The Linux version only needs root permission to install in the system path - otherwise it doesn't need admin rights. Perhaps you'll want to look at that…
  • Your spam filter is too aggressive and has been eating all my comments.
  • Automatic builds have been available at http://dengng.bpa.nu:8012/ for a while. While they don't make a nightly binary, they do build withing 15 minutes of svn updating. The build flags won't be changed as that piggybacks on the Deng-NG build system…
  • I'm no longer involved in Deng in any way now that is more then what a normal user would be.
  • I am still in regular contact with DaniJ. I have recently been working on my Deng-NG project, but I am keeping an eye on Deng. At the moment I'm waiting on DaniJ to finish the large item he is working on before touching the *nix code base, but I hav…
  • I should point out, that any disagreement between myself and DaniJ is purely over technical issues. I do wish him best of luck in his development endeavors, although he really needs a non-microsoft compiler to test with too.
  • If you expect me to put up with and service the countless moronic requests I get - then yes - I expect compensation (not specifically money or gifts - it's surprising what a thank you will get - you do know all the sf.net donations disappeared into …
  • I think we blocked everyone now - just waiting on DaniJ to chime in as the wiki admin.

  • Can we even name one, just one community member that has ever contributed documentation to the wiki ? I can't. We changed the wiki to require registration and to be logged in to post, and it didn't decrease spam levels at all. The entire history …

  • This is likely to be delayed a while. I've no time to work on it at the moment, and the current nvidia drivers cause my main development box to reboot any time an opengl program is started.
  • we now successfully init and close the new sdl_sound plugin under *nix. It sould work under OSX/Win32 as well, but currently does not yet play sounds. On my system it produces the following diaganostic output: Sfx_Init: Initializing SDL_sound... …
  • A skeleton plugin has been committed, and will be expanded as time allows.
  • I'm loath to fork a copy of SDL_mixer - my reading of the SDL_sound docs indicate it is a full mixer like SDL_mixer. I'll investigate it further after I get some sleep.
  • I haven't paid close attention to our current implementation, but if we are going to be changing things around, we really should arrange the data structures in a cache friendly manner. As I understand it from AIM conversations, we access these multi…
  • >> After it has been proven in a profiler to be a performance issue, Once that demo playback is fixed, I can set up automated profiling systems on a variety of hardware. An interesting note about pre-mature optimisation - changing the compi…
  • thats good news about the joysticks. I don't own that sort of hardware, so it never gets tested. Sadly my win32 buildbot is not yet the default, I have some work to do when it builds, but doesn't link. ** everyone looks at danij **
  • I have been looking into it - but I'm still not convinced its the right thing to do (it sounds like a nice idea for editing - but not for playing, which doesn't need multiple windows). I've already established that we can't do multiple windows with …
  • I'm just sad I didn't get to do the svn delete on it
  • SDL should wrap nicely around DirectInput, DirectMusic and DirectSOund. We have OpenAL to function like DirectSound3D, and OpenGL takes care of the DirectDraw and Direct3D functionality. That should cover everything we use right ?
  • I though we were already going to drop DirectX as directly supported, and access it via SDL instead ? OpenGL can do everything DirectX can do, even any funky DirectX10 stuff - without you needing to buy Vista
  • As you may have noticed, the buildbots are currently down. I forked out a few hundred dollars to deply a new network infrastructure, and will have new, faster buildbots up within a few days (can you say 20 second full rebuilds )
  • ok. Make it work *correctly* with NO regard to speed. please - just don't try to optimise this. I'm happy to rebuild all nodes, and I can test it here on a pentium 2, 233Mhz box to see how slow it may be, once *NIX builds ok (as in, I can play it)
  • As someone that isn't on a platform supported by many closed source vendors, I feel great concern over permitting those practices that lead to plugins not working on my system. Not being able to play a plugin on an engine I help develop would an…
