Stuck near the Ice world's portal 2

Hello,
Started playing Hexen in Doomsday and after some time I got stuck in the Seven Portals realm near the second portal for the Ice world. I'm down where the rising ice pillars are but I can't progress nor go back. The stairs are both too high for me. It's been to long since I last played Hexen to remember if this is intended behaviour and I'm just doing something wrong or is there something amiss with my game?

    Well, it would seem you have to jump for these obstacles. Forgot all about Hexen adding jumping support and thought of it as "cheating" like in Heretic. Topic solved.
