Those music remasters...

edited 2011 Jul 19 in Addons for DOOM
... make a classic music pack for the original TNT: Evilution music? Like the ones you have for Doom and Doom 2? This NEEDS to be done. :)

  • I downloaded a pack called Sycraft's remix v4 here: http://files.dengine.net/index.php and it has TNT music that is classical but upgraded. After downloading, open the file and the music files that are TNT are the last tracks at the bottom of the list and they have the same music file names as the Doom II music files in other packs but they are not the same files. You will see those names listed twice in it but the second ones below it with the same name are not the same files.
  • I tried it out. I was immediately disappointed. :(
  • Go to the addon page and download "TNT Remixed"

    http://files.dengine.net/index.php
  • I tried that out as well. It's quite good, but they lose too much of the original feel. Too much is changed. At times I can't even recognize what I'm listening to. And most of these redone tracks don't fit the game too well, in my opinion.
  • Who's the guy who did the classic Doom / Doom 2 music packs? Is there a way to contact him to make one for TNT? Those are very well done, definitive best version of the original songs (I mean not remixes).
  • I emailed him the other day (which is what I should have done before making this thread, seeing as how the contact info came with the pack and all).

When asked why he hadn't done this yet for the TNT music, he said:

"No one seems to have contact to the composers, nor does anyone know what hardware they used to compose those. The tracks were made with the intend to sound exactly like the composer created them, but without that information, this isn't possible. Also, it was a common opinion, that those don't sound that great on a Soundcanvas as the original tracks do."

It seems he's willing to do SOMETHING similar for the TNT tracks, if you were to hire him (I think?).

ANYWAY. Do any of you know where to find decent renditions of the TNT music? I'm not looking for the midis. I'm looking for something like this LogicDeluxe guy did... remasters on pro equipment. Or at least recordings of the midis played on good sound hardware (not mine, hehe), or something. Isn't that how it works?

The only ones I can find are the MP3s at Doom Depot. And whatever soundfont the guy used for the midis when he converted them, or whatever, sounds FUCKING HORRIBLE for the most part. Sigh.
  • Actually, the music I use currently is Shane's HQ Doom music packs...

Hate to redirect to another forum. Maybe a member can mirror these or something. This music is the original, but with really good instruments and custom guitars, plus a couple changed instruments on a couple tracks.
  • Speaking of music, I've been searching for those Classic Doom heavy metal remixes a couple times the last few days that I played with in 2008. I can't even find youtube videos on them. Where did they go? Well, only for e1m1, maybe. Also, it probably wouldn't work since the Skycraft ones don't work anymore (just tried a few days ago) since mp3/ogg support was broken a long time ago. Any plans to fix that?
  • You might find something here..though some are remixes, some are completely new or redone.

If they will work out in an addon pack for doomsday, just email ocremix and ask if it's ok to use.

You may also try some of the doom3 mods that have new recreated doom and doom2 music over at planetdoom.com etc.
Then look for the authors site and ask if you can use his/her music in a pack for doomsday.
