How do I use "automated build" system?

edited 2011 Nov 21 in General
What exactly is "automated build"? Does that mean automatic installation of new unstable builds, so that I do not have to uninstall old builds to install new ones? It also sounds like something that is limited only to Linux or other opensource type OS', so am I out of luck with Windows 7?

  • Here's some information about it: http://dengine.net/dew/index.php?title= ... leases_.3F

Seems to work fine in Win 7.
  • Well, it says to do pretty much what I said I have been doing, which is watching the RSS Feed for new builds, uninstalling the old ones, and installing the new ones.
  • The automated build system is what generates the builds and the feed itself. From a user perspective, this means two things; 1) a constant, regular stream of new releases and 2) immediate notification upon release.

We ultimately plan to implement an autoupdate mechanic into Doomsday itself, however there are various technical issues to resolve before we can realise that on all supported platforms.
  • is it possible for deng to use windows update to update itself?
